About the department
The Facility Engineering Team at Novo Nordisk is in charge of leading, managing, and performing the engineering operations of the organization. Our team of facility professionals plays a crucial role in ensuring the availability and productivity of our manufacturing facilities and equipment. We collaborate closely with production staff to manage repair work, safety inspections, and the installation of new equipment. As a member of our department, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our production processes and contribute to the success of Novo Nordisk.

 

The position
As a Facility Engineering Manager at Novo Nordisk, your role will involve ensuring operational excellence on the Koriyama Factory (KFA) shop floor by collaborating across functions and with Novo Nordisk global organizations when needed. You will also be in charge of managing and motivating the Facility Engineering Team, preparing long-term facility maintenance plans, overseeing major investment programs, driving kaizen activities, and promoting sustainable practices. Additionally, the position requires stabilizing and improving facility and Material Handling Systems (MHS), collaborating with stakeholders within the Koriyama plant and Novo Nordisk AktieSelskab (NNAS), and implementing energy-saving activities for buildings and facilities.

  • Ensure effective management and support for direct reports on a daily basis, prioritizing their growth and knowledge enhancement.
  • Manage labor resources with consideration for work-life-family balance, promoting a healthy and sustainable work environment.
  • Oversee compliance and resolution of people-related issues in line with regulations and company policies.
  • Plan and prioritize maintenance and investment activities, ensuring proper resource allocation and agile management.
  • Lead quality, compliance, and EHS (Environment, Health, Safety) efforts, ensuring adherence to regulations, internal standards, and continuous improvement initiatives, including ISO 14001 compliance.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above is required.
  • Work experience in facility engineering or facility maintenance in any industry.
  • Fluent in Japanese and business-level English proficiency, verbal or written are required, ideally having CEFR B1 at minimum.
  • People Management skills are mandatory.
