"In Corporate Facilities we have the end-to-end process ownership of energy supplies in Denmark across our Danish sites. This includes projects that ensure scalability in energy supplies, but also our commitment to the Circular for Zero strategy. The best thing is the diversity in professions of our colleagues: from a business analyst, a technician and an interior designer, to cleaning or gardening outside green areas, and really hard-core technical project management."

At Novo Nordisk, we're not just expanding our business, we're growing our community. As we welcome new colleagues, we co-create safe & well-functioning campuses. From traffic and infrastructure to new office buildings, every project is approached with our people in mind. We enable a never-before-seen growth, and that requires pace and creative solutions. We work with campus planning and how our site infrastructure is designed to ensure resource-efficiency in every aspect, and we consider how to build in the most sustainable way.
Novo Nordisk is committed to creating life-changing medicines while aiming for zero environmental impact. In Corporate Facilities we supply and manage robust energy solutions. We work on projects that ensures sufficient, sustainable energy at our Danish sites, transitioning to a system that synergizes electricity, heating, cooling, and steam. We are increasing renewable energy production, redesigning for efficiency, and establishing energy storage systems to balance usage. This smarter, more efficient energy use future-proofs our production and contributes to a greener society.
Corporate Facilities drives the full facility management value chain across our Danish sites, and we ensure a seamless workday for our colleagues by delivering a broad range of services. Among others, this includes security, receptions, canteens, transportation, cleaning and so much more, and the tasks include both contract and project management.
When furnishing new office spaces, we put new life into old furniture by upcycling pieces left behind. Recycled plastics from our own production, which can't be reused for insulin pens, is transformed into beautiful planters, chairs and tabletops. For us, it's about more than just design, it reminds us daily of our responsibility to think sustainable solutions in everything we do. We are constantly looking for new, innovative ways to reuse and utilize materials.
How do you find a new purpose for more than 200 tons of non-recyclable glass? A circular future calls for innovation, so instead of sending it for incineration or landfill, we transformed it into building insulation that can be used in new buildings. A circular solution that brings us one step closer to zero environmental impact.
Listen to marine engineers Jonas Borch Jørgensen and Daniel Friedberg, along with civil engineer Henrik Vidstrup, discuss their involvement in Novo Nordisk's ambitious climate strategy, titled 'Circular for Zero.' This strategy aims to reduce the massive pharmaceutical company's environmental footprint to net zero by 2045, with a series of ambitious intermediate goals set for 2030. All three have roles in operations and project management at Novo Nordisk's site near the headquarters in Bagsværd. In the broadcast, they talk about what it means to integrate the green transition into their daily work lives and what it truly means in a broader context.
Meet marine engineers Niels Cilius Fleischer Bredtoft and Peter Schou Olsen, both employed as Maintenance Responsible at Novo Nordisk's site in Måløv. They have various responsibilities related to the operation and maintenance of different facilities in factories, laboratories, and office buildings. At the site, Novo Nordisk oversees 34 large and small buildings totalling approximately 130,000 square meters, including numerous research facilities. These facilities are equipped with electric and gas boilers, ventilation systems, emergency generators, UPS systems, heating supply, compressed air, vacuum systems, and more, providing plenty of opportunities for optimization.
In the coming years, Novo Nordisk will implement investments totalling 60 billion DKK in Kalundborg, which will eventually create more than 1,200 new jobs in addition to the 4,400 already present on the company's 1.6 million square meter site in the West Zealand port city. Novo's many marine engineers are an indispensable part of this equation, and even more are needed right now. To learn more about the plans and tasks, Maskinrummet has met with Maria Svarre, the operations manager in energy supply, and Lead Maintenance Responsible Flemming Jørgensen, for whom maintenance is the focal point of daily life.
