The content in this webpage refers to the first-ever Future Scientists Summer Camp, which took place on 6-12 August 2023. No future editions have been planed yet. If they were to happen, this webpage would be updated accordingly.
We believe that true learning only happens when you are enjoying yourself. At the Future Scientists Summer Camp, participants will face intriguing questions that make them stop and think, solve challenging problems by collaborating with others, and get their hands dirty through experimentation.
One of the most important aspects of the Future Scientists Summer Camp is that participants meet and interact with peers from across the world. Our leisure activities will create the perfect space for this to happen.
You are welcome to apply if you are currently 15 or 16 years old, have a strong interest in science, are fluent in English, and are from one of the following countries: Canada, Colombia, Denmark, India, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and the United States.
Nothing. Novo Nordisk covers all costs associated with the official programme of the Future Scientists Summer Camp. This includes flights to and from Denmark, accommodation at Raadvad Vandrerhjem, transportation between all planned activities, and all meals.
Flights will be booked accordingly to ensure that all participants arrive on 6 August 2023 in Denmark. The departure date from the participant’s home country will vary depending on geographical location.
Return flights will be booked for departure on 12 August 2023. The arrival date to the participant’s home country will vary depending on geographical location.
All participants will stay at Raadvad Vandrerhjem in rooms of 2 to 6 beds. Girls and boys will stay in different rooms and have separate access to bathroom facilities.
Throughout the entire official programme of the Future Scientists Summer Camp there will be adult staff present. This applies at the LIFE Campus, at Raadvad Vandrerhjem, and on daytrips to Copenhagen and nearby surroundings. Moreover, all participants will travel in groups of 8-9 to and from Denmark with a Novo Nordisk employee as a guide.
Your participation in the Future Scientists Summer Camp is subject to a code of conduct and instructions from Novo Nordisk. Novo Nordisk reserves the right to end your participation at any time if you do not follow the code of conduct and instructions.
In 2023, Novo Nordisk will be celebrating its 100-year anniversary. As a part of this celebration, Novo Nordisk will host the first-ever Future Scientists Summer Camp in collaboration with the LIFE Foundation. This is our way of supporting and strengthening STEM education.
We want to inspire the next generation of scientists, giving them the opportunity to engage with lectures, build a network, expand their knowledge, and share their perspectives.
For almost 100 years, we have been translating the unmet medical needs of people living with a serious chronic disease into innovative medicines and delivery systems, like our insulin pens.
Our treatments today are benefiting millions of people living with diabetes, obesity, and rare blood and endocrine diseases. From our labs to our factory floors, we are discovering and developing innovative biological medicines and making them accessible to patients throughout the world.
LIFE is an educational initiative in Denmark that provides enquiry-based science education to children and adolescents – including early-childhood education, primary and lower-secondary schools and upper-secondary schools.
The core of LIFE is our science and technology courses – LIFE Courses. In very few years, LIFE has developed from an idea to become a not-for-profit foundation with corporate interests with over 100 employees.
