Denmark, Bagsværd

Do you aspire to play a pivotal role in establishing investment (capex) projects for success? Are you acknowledged as an expert in Project Management or Engineering Consulting with a proven track record? If so, this opportunity is tailored for you. At Novo Nordisk, it is essential to build the capacity needed to serve an increasing number of patients. We are in search of a Senior Procurement Manager within Engineering to bolster our expanding pipeline of capex investment projects, e.g. new production sites, labs, offices, energy hubs, or infrastructure needed.

If you are passionate about making a difference and want to contribute to our mission of serving more patients, this is the perfect role for you. Join our dynamic team and be an integral part of our success in driving innovation and building for the future.

The position

As our new Senior Procurement Manager, you will be an integral part of a small highly skilled team that provides crucial guidance for investment projects from their early phases through to execution. You will have the opportunity to influence procurement decisions, execution models, contractual arrangements, negotiations, and address engineering challenges within engineering services, construction, and IT/Automation. This collaborative effort extends to working closely with colleagues involved in investment projects and our extensive global supplier network, ensuring a holistic approach to project success.

To excel in this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to grasp and understand the organization's needs, offer invaluable insights, and collaborate on identifying the most optimal setup with an esteemed Engineering partner. Your ability to understand and anticipate our organization's requirements and your strategic input will be key to our collective success. The role includes:

  • Commercial activities : Leading commercial activities in investment projects in Denmark and internationally, you'll strategize on the best engineering setup with an external partner, craft tender material, assess diverse engineering options, negotiate commercial terms, draft contracts, and oversee project execution and supplier collaboration.
  • Supplier relationship : You will cultivate strong partnerships with engineering suppliers, serving as the vital link between our colleagues in investment projects at Novo Nordisk and our valued suppliers. Continuously, you'll assess supplier performance, providing input to Engineering category management in our IES team to ensure that the required competencies align with our portfolio of engineering suppliers.
  • Stakeholder management : You will engage closely with key stakeholders (e.g. project managers and project owners) at Novo Nordisk to guarantee the ideal sourcing strategy for engineering services, aligning with both current and future needs. This involves securing cutting-edge technology that consistently meets high-quality standards, mitigates risks, minimizes our environmental impact, and offers competitive commercial terms. Achieving this balance necessitates fostering strong relationships and devising solutions that benefit all involved parties. Sounds interesting?

A day in your new role could look like this…

You begin your day by reviewing an email from a project owner seeking your assistance in selecting an engineering partner for a newly approved investment project. She wishes to schedule a meeting to introduce the project, explore potential engineering partners, and discuss execution strategy. The project's key focus is to conduct a lifecycle analysis and minimize the building's environmental footprint.

Afterwards it is time for the daily team touch point where you have a power break session with stretching exercises. Besides moving your body, you look very much forward to catching up with your colleagues. You mention the new project that you just heard about this morning and have a chat with your colleagues about how we reduce our environmental footprint in investment projects. You get plenty of good input from more senior and more junior colleagues on the topic. Following that, you meet with an engineering supplier for final negotiations on another project. You've readied benchmarks for cost, time, and environmental sustainability—crucial for Novo Nordisk. Wrapping up your day, you join an experienced category manager in a supplier meeting, gaining insights into fostering strategic collaborations for new technologies and automation. Additionally, you visit one of the supplier's production sites just outside the Copenhagen area.

Qualifications

  • You hold a M.Sc. or equivalent in Engineering.
  • You have min. 5 years of experience as a Project Manager or from Engineering Consultancy within construction or process engineering.
  • Experience with the Danish construction market incl. ABR18 and AB18 contract set-up.
  • Understanding of Engineering contracts, design, and execution processes, preferably from both the consultant and client side
  • Some prior experience from a GMP regulated industry is beneficial but not a prerequisite.
  • You can build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all organisational levels.
  • You are fully proficient in English.
  • Danish skills (at least in reading and writing) would be beneficial
