The position

We are looking for someone who is motivated by and enjoy working with data, developing advanced models and deploying and applying these models for helping with setting the direction for short and long-term project portfolio generation.

Specifically, we will depend on you to:

  • Develop, apply and maintain flowsheet models for designing/retrofitting manufacturing facilities
  • Analyse, test and identify optimizations for existing processes in collaboration with project stakeholders
  • Develop a model library for model re-use and improvement
  • Develop models at varying levels of fidelity for representation of processes and ultimately facilities

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with the following prerequisites:

  • A PhD in chemical engineering or industrial engineering. If you a hold a MSc with 2-3 years of experience you are also welcomed to apply
  • Domain knowledge on flowsheet modelling, optimization, unit operations understanding and data analysis.
  • Experience with equation/object-oriented programming, for example, Matlab, python, VBA, etc.
  • Understanding of how to convey complex information to varying audiences and thereby, explain the purpose to get everyone onboard
  • An appetite for solving complex problems applying a systems approach to manage complexity and reach feasible applicable solution.

About the department

You will be a part of the Novo Nordisk Insulin production, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (PS API) and assigned to Manufacturing 1 (M1), the world’s largest Insulin Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) manufacturing facility located in Kalundborg with fermentation, recovery, purification and utilities production under the same roof.

You will be employed in M1 Bioprocess Improvement-Optimization (M1 BIO), a group of 8 highly skilled colleagues plus MSc students all working with advanced mathematical modelling for bioprocess improvement and optimization. We follow the multiscale modelling approach for problem solving and we have activities in Applied Mathematical Modelling, Mechanistic Modelling, Process Control Modelling, Capacity Modelling and Supply Chain Optimization Modelling.
