The Position
The role will be utilizing expertise in legal and compliance, enabling Novo Nordisk business in Japan to achieve growth initiatives while protecting the company from major legal, compliance, and reputational risks.  It will also support the business with intelligent risk taking through clear-cut risk analysis.


The role and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • As a business partner, empower business leaders at Novo Nordisk Japan to take informed risks to achieve growth while safeguarding the company against significant legal, compliance, and reputational threats. It involves providing comprehensive legal and compliance support, including consultation, material review, and training, across various lines of business. The position also focuses on problem-solving by leveraging expertise in relevant laws and industry regulations, often requiring coordination with local and global stakeholders.
  • Advise, draft, review, approve, and negotiate various types of contracts (e.g. alliance and partnerships, wholesaler and distribution, clinical trial, post market study, investigator sponsored study, joint research, employment, procurement, among others) to enable business leaders to achieve growth initiatives while protecting the company from major legal, compliance, and reputational risks.
  • Proactive Plan, lead, and execute the implementation of the requirements of local regulations and Novo Nordisk’s global policies through coordination with local and global stakeholders and provide strategic input and leadership.
  • Identify opportunities for optimizing existing processes and policies, and plan, lead, and execute optimization projects (digitization, automation, and simplification) for both Legal & Compliance team and Novo Nordisk business team.
  • As a member of the Legal, Ethics & Compliance Division, nurture a strong compliance culture, live the value of “open & honest” and “do the right thing” and promote such mindset among employees. Assist with investigations on compliance related allegations or concerns as such need arises.


Qualifications

  • You must have at least a bachelor’s degree; Law degree is preferred, and Lawyer qualification in Japan (弁護士), or in foreign jurisdictions such as US, UK, or Australia is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience at law firm or legal division in a company is required.
  • Must have a proactive business partner and Legal/Compliance mindset, and skills for clear and logical communication. 
  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred. Must have high curiosity in healthcare industry and for personal development.
  •  Proficiency in Japanese and English (written & verbal).
