The position
Biologist, cell biology
Key areas of responsibility
Take key responsibility in driving the future development of
human translatable in vitro assays including those based on primary
human cells, ES / iPSCs derived cells, organoids and 3D co-culture
systems. Use these cell biology platforms to support various pipeline
projects, discovery / validation of new therapeutic targets in areas
of diabetes, obesity, heart failure, atherosclerosis, chronic kidney
disease and NASH. Furthermore, you will be expected to leverage the
innovation culture, mentor colleagues, and promote the collaboration
culture both internally and globally.
You will be involved in cross-functional project teams with colleagues from many different scientific backgrounds both in China and in global sites located in Denmark (headquarter location), UK and USA. You will be a key person in projects and responsible for the use of in vitro assays in the project. You will be the department representative in projects where you are expected to seek influence based on the data you generate and by keeping up to date with the scientific literature.
You will be referring directly to the department head at Department of Biology, and your main internal contacts in your daily work will be scientist colleagues, research associates, project members, and managers both in Beijing and global. Furthermore, developing and maintaining a strong external network is also going to be an important part of your work.
Qualifications
• Ph.D. in biology, medicine or chemistry, or a relevant
scientific discipline
• Hands-on experience and biology understanding in diabetes and
obesity disease areas is a must.
• Extensive experience and
in-depth understanding of cell-based assays, and relevant experience
in primary human cells, ES / iPSCs derived cells, skeletal muscle
culture systems are desirable.
• Minimum 2-3 years of
postdoctoral training or equivalent industrial experience is preferred
• Experience in bioinformatics, omics, functional genomics and /
or AI assisted drug discovery is a strong plus
• Excellent
track records of innovation, independence and scientific
accomplishments of high value
• Excellent communication and
collaboration skills
• Fluent in English
