As Director, I'm responsible for attracting the new Oral Product & Process candidates with the right competencies within solid dosage forms of proteins. Having many employees in the department, my job is also to set the general direction and ensure that we take the right steps in the formulation and processes development as well as the production for early clinical trials. It is very exciting to be a part of this unit, where international teamwork and cross-functional expertise are the keys to success.
The new unit needs more world-class oral protein formulation competencies to take our first oral protein formulations of insulin and GLP-1 into early clinical trials. You will be a part of a performance-oriented team dedicated to building the competencies and technology necessary to pioneer first-rate solid dosage forms of proteins. “It’s a very exciting opportunity to be a part of Novo Nordisk’s newly established Oral Protein Formulation unit, where we work on developing diabetes products for oral delivery. It’s a complicated process, but also very interesting, and I am confident that we will succeed. We have a great R&D environment with state-of-the-art equipment and techniques. One of my best experiences, so far, was where I got to order several new high-standard pieces of pharmaceutical equipment for our lab.
Personally, I feel inspired on a daily basis. This is both thanks to the dynamic and pleasant work atmosphere, the close team work and the fact that I get to work with all aspects of product and process development of oral solid dosage forms. I am involved in the different steps that lead us towards the new diabetes products, and my main responsibilities are to make experimental design and set-up, just as I prepare documentation for clinical trials and registration applications. In addition, I am involved in data evaluation and the development of new process technologies.
I’m very excited about the future, because I have the very best professional and personal development opportunities. I represent my department in multidisciplinary project work and have the opportunity to work closely with international experts from different fields.

“The human body is a very complex machine, and Novo Nordisk certainly take a tremendous and very interesting challenge with the journey towards orally deliverable proteins.
I work with pre-formulation and formulation of oral dosage forms as an alternative to injectable diabetes products. Primarily, my job involves the start up and development of new processes and methods of analysis as well as the development of new formulations. I find my work very exciting and challenging, because I am constantly learning new skills and encouraged to pursue new ideas. Working in the field of pharmaceutical research is a bit out of the ordinary considering my engineering background. But I get to use my education when downscaling equipment to reduce the costs associated with the research phase of our projects.
I specialise in the processing of proteins and other ingredients, hence the Oral Protein Formulation Unit has a special appeal for me. I also have the opportunity to work with a lot of specialists with different backgrounds and fields of expertise: I work on big and complex projects across multi-disciplinary groups, and my colleagues teach me new things every day. It really is a place, where you can be proactive and contribute to achieving something worthwhile.
The fact that we make lifesaving products makes my work meaningful. And it makes me proud to be part of a company that puts a lot of effort into being ethical and socially responsible.
