Manage your diabetes

If you are diagnosed with diabetes, you can still live a long, healthy and fulfilling life. But you will need to take very good care of yourself. To begin with, you will need to monitor your blood sugar levels. Not only does this show you how exercise and eating affect your blood sugar, it also tells you if your medicine is working.

In the long term, the keys to staying healthy are:

  • Taking your medication as prescribed
  • Regular exercise
  • A healthy diet
  • An emotional well-being

From the outset, it’s important that you try and learn as much as you can about diabetes, get as much support as possible from those around you and, even when it's not easy, work on keeping your outlook positive. Managing this will enable to manage your diabetes.
