Scope of the programme
The corporate headquarters programme is anchored in Denmark, three rotations will take place in headquarter functions in Denmark, while one rotation will take place outside Denmark.
Throughout the programme you will be working closely with your programme manager to plan your rotations and enhance your professional and personal development as much as possible. Mentoring with a senior member of the IT Management team will also be provided in order to provide further development.
The flow and content of your four job rotations are shaped individually to fit both your skills and development opportunities and at the same time to meet our business needs and focus areas. A rotation flow for a graduate based in corporate headquarters could be as follows:
IT Governance and Portfolio Management. The first rotation will introduce you to the overall IT setup in Novo Nordisk. You will boost your competencies by solving assignments that evolve into smaller projects, and embrace opportunities for independent responsibility.
IT Sourcing Management. You will be involved with areas such as license management for key IT systems, negotiating IT Service Level Agreements or purchases of new IT investments and optimising the vendor setup.
IT Project Management. Working in one of our global affiliate offices, such as Beijing, Zürich, Tokyo or Princeton, you will be responsible for independent deliveries and work streams in the IT projects including change management and training responsibilities.
IT Systems Management. During the last rotation you could enrol in the system management of critical business applications. Challenges may include off-shoring, vendor management or development of system strategies.

Joining Novo Nordisk appeals to you, not because of the competitive salary we offer, but because the work we do is so rewarding - as we make a difference to the lives of people with chronic conditions around the world.

“As a member of Novo Nordisk’s graduate programme I know we receive special treatment. We get the opportunity to learn about the company from all angles and to interact with top management – we've even been given career advice from an executive vice president!”
A good foundation
The graduate programme is the perfect start for my career as it gives me the opportunity to learn about the company and its business processes from different angles as I rotate to different jobs. And through the graduate network I hear about areas of the company that aren't directly related to my role. To get to know the company from the grass roots is invaluable.
The exposure I get to employees from all over the company is very rewarding. People here are very smart, focused and passionate about what they do – and this rubs off on me! My colleagues go out of their way to make me feel comfortable – for example they will speak English even in informal settings so that I don't feel isolated. When the people around you are good at what they do you can't help but want to do your best.
Learning from management
As graduates we get more opportunities to network with top management than other employees do. Not only do we talk about the business and projects, we've also had the chance to ask their advice and hear about their career paths. The chief financial officer recently told us how important he thinks it is to have a good manager. I agree, and I am very lucky to have a manager who is also like a mentor to me. He has lots of experience and so this is a great opportunity for me to learn from him. I'm also able to ask his advice on personal development issues like where to go on my next rotation.
My manager told me to always be myself, and this is something I would pass on to other new graduates. The diversity and personal touch that every employee brings to their work is definitely appreciated her
I joined the graduate programme with an open mind, determined to take whatever opportunities came my way. I knew that Novo Nordisk was a well-respected company and the leader in diabetes care. I've since learnt that its vision that “a job here is never just a job” is very true and totally describes what it is like to work at Novo Nordisk. There is a very healthy work/life balance and a strong emphasis on personal development. This is a company that is modest about its achievements and I've found that employees have this same modesty. There is a great focus on achieving results and being the best at what we do, but there is no arrogance here.
I feel every day that I am contributing to a team that is making the company a success – which ultimately helps people with diabetes live better lives. That is great motivation to get out of bed every morning.
